Behind the gate

What We Are Really Up To

We are replacing the web browser.
That sentence is why the public pages feel incomplete.
This page is the rest of it.

Viktor Grant, for members. Eighty percent of this is public elsewhere. This is the eighty, in one place.
The thesis

The Browser Is The Problem

The web browser was built to read documents.
It is now the thing most people run their whole life through.

Every layer since was a patch on the one below.
Identity lives in a cookie someone else holds.
The page runs code on you. The feed never ends.

That is why the world feels like it is falling apart online.
Not bad people. Outdated standards, carrying a load they were never designed for.

This is not the internet. Viktor Grant, on traffic that is gone, mail that does not arrive, and answers steered by a narrative

Earthgrid's aim is to bring the internet back to the design of the people who founded it:
the standards bodies, the World Wide Web Consortium, and people who cared about community.

What replaces it

Connectors, Not Tabs

Instead of a browser full of tabs, your tools talk to the Grid directly.
One documented web API. Every call made as you, with your consent.

The AI you already use becomes a remote control for Earthgrid.
Much of what it does is not simulated AI. It is computer assisted human intelligence: it takes dictation and works the controls.

Today that remote control is Claude, because that is where the first connector is being built.
The API underneath is open to any AI that can call it.

The messenger, the search, your site and the SDK all hang off the same hub.
A client builds a site elsewhere, adds the connector, and the Grid translates it.

Two layers of trust, by design

An owner key identifies the site.
Then each person signs in through Earthgrid and approves what the tool may do for them.
No master key. No tool acts as nobody.
Credits are never changed by a connector.

Status: the API and the connector are in build. The first version is read-only. Nothing above is a promise of a date.
Where the web goes

The Internet Behind A Safe Directory

Earthgrid began in 1996 as a directory of member websites,
a stand against spider-driven search Viktor could rank at will.

Discovery Mode brings that full circle.
The search reads your need and shows what exists on the Grid first.

The open web is one button away, in a new tab. Never the default.
Every AI answer is built only from results you checked, every claim numbered.

That is the browser, inverted.
You do not go out into the web. The web is let in, one page at a time, on your terms.

Where the value is

The Value Is The Training Data

There are many models. There will be more, and they will cost less.
The value is not in the model or the API. It is in the data and the method.

Earthgrid holds thirty years of it.
About 102,000 member accounts. 9,199 member listings. Logs that go back to 2010.

On top sits the method: a DNA file the AI reads every session,
a relationship kernel that reads two people, and a workbench that refines prompts across models.

Swap the chip. The stack stays yours.
That is the whole difference between renting a tool and owning a framework.

Member counts change. The 102,000 figure is as shown on earthgrid.ai in early November 2026.
Where we honestly stand

Six Operator Tiers

Viktor's estimate: ninety-nine percent of people working with AI are at tier 1.
Vibe coding on rented tools, nothing proprietary, no DNA file.

The gate out of tier 1 is a DNA file.
About a week of honest work. Most people never write one.

Tier 1: vibe coding on rented tools

  • A stack of subscriptions, each one someone else's product.
  • The output is a design. Nothing proprietary comes out of it.
  • When a tool changes its price or its model, the stack dies.
  • No DNA file, so every session starts from the middle of everything.

Tier 6: a framework that runs itself

  • A DNA file the AI reads every session. The gate out of tier 1.
  • Frameworks that carry an ecosystem across pages and sites.
  • Deployment through the trusted gateway, with no operator in the loop.
  • Self-refinement from live activity, scored against the DNA file.

Here is the honest line, said out loud as /stand asks.
Earthgrid stands on tier 5: frameworks exist and run on live sites.

Tier 6 is what Earthgrid is building toward. Nobody holds it.
Its proof will be one site deployed through the gateway by someone with no framework skill.

Every tier is proven by something another person can open, never by self-report. The ladder is proposed, not yet a published standard.
The rule under all of it

Operators, Not Agents

Stop building agents without human operators.
AI does its best work with a human at the controls.

Tier 6 sounds like the opposite. It is not.
The framework runs itself only inside the DNA file a human wrote and keeps.

The person searches, chooses, stacks and decides.
The system does the deploying and the refining, and shows its work.

Earthgrid 3.0

The Age Of Disclosure

About eighty percent of what Earthgrid is was hidden for years.
That eighty percent is now explained publicly, even to competitors.

The remaining twenty stays a trade secret.
No patents. In the age of AI, Viktor's view is that they are useless.

This page is part of the eighty.
What is in the twenty is written down, and not here.

What finishing means

We Stop Feeding Systems That Never Fill

Viktor's line to a mentor this week: we are finishing the project,
because we cannot continue to support entropic systems.

Behind the gate, here is what that means in practice.
Thirty years of prototypes are built and running. The building phase is closing.

What stops: pouring money and hours into channels that do not answer.
Blasts to lists that machines open. Traffic bought from spiders. Tools rented by the month.

What continues: the Grid, the connectors, the directory, the data.
Every hour and dollar goes into the system that keeps what it is given.

What this does not mean

It does not mean Earthgrid closes.
It does not mean your account or your work goes anywhere.
It means we stop carrying the systems that drain the Grid,
and we ask you to turn one off with us.

Who decides

A Membership, Like Rotary

Earthgrid is a membership organization, not a company with customers.
The members decide the path, and the paying members get the biggest say.

It is a contribution model: what comes in goes back out.
Not a for-profit. Not a 501c3, which is a control mechanism. We support the 501c3s instead.

That is also why no AI is named as ours.
Bring the one you use. The Grid works with all of them.

The full statement is on /stand, section five.
Your part

How A Member Moves This Forward

  1. Write your DNA file. Who you are, your offers, your audience, your words. That is the gate out of tier 1, and we help.
  2. Run your next search on the Grid with the checkboxes. Uncheck the robots. Summarize what is left. Feel the difference.
  3. Add your site. Your listing goes first, by right of membership, and it feeds the directory everyone else searches.
  4. Bring your four. Fuller's minimum system is four events. One project, one two-sentence announcement, and it takes off.
  5. Turn one entropic system off this month and tell us which. That is the measure we keep.

Contribute first. Then receive more than you gave.
Then pass it forward. The Grid runs on that and nothing else.

Earthgrid plus our members is fixing the internet one website at a time. Viktor Grant, Earthgrid
