Browsers

Earthgrid PowerSites have been tested with all major browsers on playback, including Google Chrome. Recently, however, Mozilla Firefox and to some degree Internet Explorer 9 causes editing issues while working in the Text-image editor and other problems during editing. Our development team has identified that these bugs were introduced into Mozilla Firefox during the upgrade to Version 10. These bugs have still not been fixed by Version 10. Firefox had changed in their latest versions some important aspects of the way the browser works. It resulted in our Style Layout giving a server error message. We are aware of the issue, and are currently waiting for Firefox to correct the issue on their end.

What we recommend is that you install a copy of Version 9. A copy of it is included on this page for your convenience. We recommend you install the browser using the custom to a different folder such as "Mozilla Firefox 9" and choose a custom installation.  Please read the TIP below as well once they are installed to prevent them from automatically upgrading to version 11.

Mozilla Firefox Installation Packages - Legacy

Windows - Firefox Setup 9.0.1.exe 14.6MB Apr 23, 2012 10:42 PM
Mac - Firefox 9.0.1.dmg 30.8MB Apr 23, 2012 10:43 PM

Disable Auto-Update

After downloading and installing the 9.0.1. version from the links found here, DO NOT go to Help/About to check the current version because the default value is checked to automatically download the latest version, which throws you into the loop of being forced to upgrade to 11. If you want to keep version 9.0.1 go to Tools/options/advanced and click the Update Tab. Then uncheck all the “Automatically check for updates to: Firefox and Add-ons. Click OK and restart Firefox.

Note: you can keep both versions 9 and 11 on your computer at the same time. We do. If you choose to do this we suggest you create a different shortcut for each and label them so.
